Description
Reporting Studio is a comprehensive solution for creating graphics for reports, presentations and dashboards consisting of charts, tables and highlighting according to the IBCS notation concept. From its integrated analysis of the business significance of the available data, it automatically suggests which graphics to use in each case.
Reporting Studio is integrated in the CP-Suite web client. Data can be imported via the CP data warehouse using table reports. In addition, data sources from over 150 different ERP systems can be connected directly to the CP DWH. Fully prepared business logic, with dynamic filters, typed IBCS scenarios, data modelling and group capability, is integrated. The CP DWH facilitates the modelling of reporting structures and can act as the single point of truth for all report recipients.
Fields of application
Data-driven standard reporting, ad-hoc analyses, dynamic dashboards and presentations with a uniform notation concept; the IBCS notation concept is included.
Graphic features
Reports, presentations and dashboards can be created with charts and tables according to a predefined set of notation principles. The most suitable visualizations for the available data set are suggested automatically.
Available graphic objects:
- Unstacked columns and bars
- Stacked columns and bars
- 100% stacks
- Waterfalls
- Point and line charts
- Area charts for stacked point-lines
- Tables
- Multicharts
- Inline comments and comment columns
Variance chart types
- Columns and bars for simple delta variances
- Waterfall columns and bars for cumulative variances
- Needle chart type for percentage variances
Charts and tables can be supplemented generically with any number of subcharts. The structure of data series and table columns is data driven.
Tables can be supplemented with charts as variance columns.
Available highlighting and controls:
- Comments (comment reference and external comment text)
- Value indicator (highlights a value in the graphic)
- Difference indicator (highlights the difference between two values)
- Scaling indicator (highlights scaling differences between different charts)
- Text box as an html box to display static text, images and other multimedia contentThe object properties have sensible default settings but can also be customized in properties dialogues.
All objects, such as pages, charts, subcharts, series, categories, data points and highlighting, are displayed in a structure tree, where they can also be selected for editing.
Objects can be inserted by drag & drop and linked to data.
The user interface is the same for all user roles (Designer and Viewer).
Custom notation concept
Custom display styles, stylesheets, can be defined for use across all projects in a wizard. This makes it possible to define and update a central notation concept with logos, colours, line widths, point sizes, fonts, etc.
Data sources and data handling
Database
The CP data warehouse, which can be populated with data from Excel and SQL databases, is available as a data source. In addition, over 150 different ERP systems can be connected directly using standard integrations..
The Corporate Planner databases and folders with fully prepared business logic, with dynamic filters, typed IBCS scenarios, data modelling and group capability, enable the modelling of the reporting structures.
Data sources
The charts and tables in Reporting Studio can be linked to the Corporate Planner data sources.
Furthermore, Excel workbooks can be connected directly as data sources outside the CP DWH.
In the Reporting Studio custom visual, the available data are analysed in each case for business significance and suitable visualization types (graphics) are suggested on that basis.
A demo data source for each chart type is also included so that charts can still be inserted if a user-defined data source is not yet available.
Data preparation
In the Data Manager, a Reporting Studio wizard, the data are displayed multidimensionally with the dimensions arranged in rows, columns and filters. Dimensions are also classified according to business significance in terms of time, scenarios (streams), calculation method and measures. This classification is automatic and can be adjusted by the user.
Multiple time dimensions can be assigned, as well as a supplementary scenario, the type of a measure (stock or flow value) and its unit.
The user can also display a graphic preview of the current data configuration in the Data Manager.
All dimension elements can then be individually classified, re-sorted and filtered in the dimension editor.
Static exports
Multi-page Reporting Studio projects can be exported to the following formats:
- PowerPoint presentation
- PNG (multiple pages in a zip archive)
Saving projects
The projects are saved in the Corporate Planner web client so that the user can open and edit them again via a dialogue.
Snapshots can also be saved. In this case, the reports are saved with frozen data. If a snapshot is saved as a new project, the data are unfrozen and further editing can take place.
Access modes
CP Reporting Studio runs in all common web browsers without installation on workstations. On the server side, CP Reporting Studio is provided as a cloud or on-premise installation.
Sprachen
The user interface supports all the languages of the CP-Web Client.
Administration
The administration of the user roles and the associated editing options for the users is carried out via the Corporate Planner Web Client.
The Designer and Viewer user types are available.
Designers
can create, change and delete their own projects and those that have been shared with them.
Viewers
- can view projects
and, depending on how they have been shared
- export them,
- browse and
- adjust the time slider.
Licensing
Licensing is done via the Corporate Planner Web Client.
